The 13th Floor Animal Rescue, Inc.

About the 13th Floor

The 13th Floor is a non-profit (501c3) no-kill animal rescue organization based out of New York City. Our main goal is to find forever homes for cats, dogs, and exotic animals who have been deserted and neglected. Our organization utilizes foster homes to house and care for dogs, cats and exotics until they are ultimately adopted by their forever human(s).

Our Mission

In shelters all over the world, more black cats (and dogs) are euthanized every day than all other colors combined.  The reasons are multiple.  In the 21st Century, many folks still think that black cats are bad luck.  This creates a problem at the pounds.  Since black cats don’t get adopted as quickly as others - or at all - they take up valuable cage space, so they are often put down to make room for “more adoptable” animals.  In addition, many shelters refuse to adopt out black cats, for fear they might be sacrificed in certain pseudo-religious rituals, so they’d rather end their lives humanely.  The 13th Floor  will specialize in black cat and dog adoption.  Our motto: “It’s Bad Luck To Be Superstitious.”

The 13th Floor relies primarily on donations from the public as well as proceeds from Blackboard Tees – 100% of which are used exclusively to help save at-risk animals.
